Advent: words of waiting

Advent Peace  A few weeks ago, I spotted some bright crocheted words by Hannah Cross in Simply Crochet issue 25 and immediately fell in love with the idea. It took me a little while to organise myself and make a start.

Our Advent theme this year at church has been ‘Waiting in …. for Jesus’, with a different word each week: hope, joy,

peace and love. As soon as I heard about this, I decided to link the two and use the words from the magazine (peace and joy), skip ‘noel’ and add in peace and love. Our girls chose the colours for each word and I started work, using a 3.5mm hook and cotton DK (Patons and Wendy Supreme). The most frustrating part was working round the jewellery wire for and joining the work into a tube. Each week, we then placed a word in the tree, which is a very colourful affair this year thanks to small hands.

It’s time to sign off now and continue our preparations! I wish you and yours a very happy Christmas and every blessing for the new year.

With love,

Eleanor. x
