Broomstick Lace

Here are a few glimpses of broomstick lace for you, as I prepare to write up the tutorial. This is my current project, worked on a 4mm hook and 25mm circular knitting needles, in a polyester-cotton marl yarn from  Texere Yarns:

I plan to dip dye it in a pale aquamarine once it’s completed.

These are a few highlights from the past year, firstly a neckwarmer in lambswool:

a glimpse of a scarf I made in Manos del Uruguay silk blend:

Baby blue lace

Drop stitch crochet – a related but slightly different technique – worked in laceweight yarn from Willo Fibres:

and finally, a hat in organic fair trade cotton (Debbie Bliss Eco Baby), with a row of broomstick lace worked into the design:

Have you ever tried this technique? I’d love to hear from you.
